ABOUT THE AUTHOR

was a labour of love for me from the beginning. We sold our first piece of Sherman over 19 years ago, and from then on it was a love affair between Sherman and myself. Luckily my husband is not a jealous man! Although I never had the privilege to meet the designer himself, over the years it seemed that I had come to know so much about the way he felt when he worked on the fabulous, extraordinary “Jewels of Elegance” which we hold in such reverence today.

It was with his love for his craft and our love for his work, in mind that I finally, some 2 ½ years ago decided to get down to the task of writing a book about his designs. There were always promises of a book “About to be published” so with a lot of pressure from our customers, who kept asking if I had any news about when a book might appear, I realized that if there was ever going to be such a book I might as well write it myself. I have (without giving away my age!!) over 35 years experience as a writer for numerous publications and am a Certified Appraiser for an International Appraisal Company, so it wasn’t too big a stretch to think about writing a book. Well it was a very big stretch, but it was something I dearly wanted to accomplish, both for myself and for our Sherman customers and collectors across the country.

Now, here it is, an introduction to the diverse, extraordinary designs made in Canada by a man who had no former knowledge of the jewellery trade.

The Main branch of the Kitchener Library is proud to be hosting a Series of evening workshops conducted by Valerie Hammond. " Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Antiques But Were Afraid To Ask ", will be a series of interactive evenings dealing with all of your questions and concerns. Learn how to be a Confident Collector.

" Meet The Author " and book signing wll be held at the Main Branch. You may purchase your copy of " All That Glitters", or, if you already have one, please bring it with you and have it signed by the Author.
